Scottish Sun IT’S BEEN 70 years since Scotland’s 999 service was launched - saving thousands of lives. And to mark the anniversary Scotland’s 999 heroes will be honoured at a star-studded bash on October 30th. The unsung heroes have risked thousands of lives over the years responding to emergency calls. Tragically dozens more heroes have died trying to rescue those in danger. Now it’s time to celebrate Scotland’s bravest and finest. more

To celebrate the incredible bravery shown by our emergency services, the Scottish Sun is calling on its army of readers to choose their own hero.

The People's Award gives the public the chance to nominate whichever member of the emergency service made a difference to their lives.

Whether you were pulled from a blazing house by a fireman, airlifted off a mountain or given the kiss of life by a paramedic, this is your chance to say thank you to the people who saved your life.

Every day in Scotland lives are saved or changed forever by the quick-thinking, skill and tireless bravery shown by each and every member of our emergency services.

Over the coming weeks we want to hear your amazing stories to highlight the courage and skill shown by our 999 heroes.

You will also have the chance to vote for the emergency worker you feel should lift the fantastic Scottish Sun People's Award.
